Add tasks before, after, or in parallel to selected task

In my ongoing quest to stake claims on as many single letter GyroQ tag names as possible, I’ve added the following three new tags to MindReader:

  • “a” inserts a task “after” the selected task (inserts a parent task)
  • “b” inserts a task “before” the selected task (adds a child task)
  • “p” inserts a task in “parallel” with the selected task (adds a sibling task)

The “b” tag is actually just a re-named version of the the previously posted “i” tag. As it turns out, using “i” as a tag name leads to unintended tag toggling if you are typing “I owe”, “I should”, “I ought to”, etc. into GyroQ while using another tag.

Note that “a” and “p” are intended for use on MindManager project maps while “b” can be used on either project maps or ResultsManager dashboards.

The new tags are available in the GyroQ Tag Library

    Hi Activity owner,

The latest update via AO-pack.zip “broke” my MindReader system. It appears that one of the updated macros is failing.

Sorry about that Rennie — I made some changes to make it easier for the program to upgrade the mindreader.mmap and looks like I missed the testing step. You can download the corrected mindreadernlp.mmbas from here and place it in your “My Maps” directory and you should be fine:

    Hi:

I’ve noticed that with the recent update (April 30) the current topic in MindManager (V6) loses focus after a “p” command is used to add a task. This make it a little harder to add a sequence of tasks, since I need to go back to MindManager and select the prior task before entering a second task with “p”. Prior to this, I could enter a series of tasks with “p” commands directly from the GyroQ window.

A small point, but it would be nice if the earlier behaivour could be restored. I took a quick look at the code but didn’t see anything that (to me) obviously could be changed.

Many thanks for a great piece of software – it’s really tightly integrated into my personal productivity management.

    Regards,
    =John

Hi John — Are you using GyroQ 1.9.4.7 or 1.9.4.9? 1.9.4.9 has selection issues that cause problems like you are describing.

Ah ha! Thanks! That’s the issue – I moved to a new PC, and downloaded GyroQ (along with MindReader) from the various web-sites. The version I installed was 1.9.4.9. I don’t have the old PC any more, but I’m pretty sure that explains the problem, since I had not downloaded GyroQ on the old PC for some time, so probably was prior to 1.9.4.9.

Do you know of a workaround? Or where I can download a back-revision of GyroQ?

Thanks for the quick response, and the awesome software

Thanks, AO! I’ve reverted back to the 4.7 release you reference, and all is working as it should be. Thanks again for the software and the responsive assistance!
