GyroQ Invitations
After a solid round of beta-testing and customer-driven improvements, Gyronix has launched their GyroQ product on an "Invitation-only" basis; mimicking the approach Google successfully used in their Gmail roll out. In Google's case the purpose was, among other things, to control the growth of the service in proportion to their capacity ramp up. In Gyronix's case, the goal is to connect new users to the diverse online resources and communities related to their products.
GyroQ has a variety of current and potential uses, but it is primarily being positioned as a "Capture" tool. As David Allen points out in Chapter 1 of his book when describing the basic requirements of managing commitments, the first step is collection…
"… if it is on your mind, your mind isn't clear. Anything you consider unfinished in any way must be captured in a trusted system outside your mind, or what I call a collection bucket, that you know you'll come back to regularly and sort through".
GyroQ lets you quickly toss a note into a "queue" for later insertion into a "Daily Capture Map", instead of writing it down on a post-it or a scrap piece of paper. This is for situations where you don't want to stop what you are working on to launch MindManager to dive into the innards of a project map or to try move the issue forward with a 2-minute action. You don't loose your focus, but you also don't loose your idea or action item back into the soup.
GyroQ uses the GyroActivator language, which enables you to extend the functionality of GyroQ if you have the developer edition. For example you can direct the task to the In-tray of a particular map instead of the Daily Capture map. This site includes a GyroQ tag library that contains some examples. Send suggestions or your own creations to info@activityowner.com for inclusion.
ActivityOwner.com is a non-commercial site, participating in the invitation program mainly out of curiosity in the experiment Gyronix is attempting. Perhaps if the site piles up enough reward "points", it can redeem them for some engineering time for new gyroactivator language functions like the ability to automatically mark up gyroQ action items.
