The latest newsletter from DavidCo pointed out that David Allen is now writing a weekly GTD article on the Huffington Post. His 2nd contribution, Think Smarter by Capturing your Ideas is absolutely required reading for GyroQ and MindReader users.
"How many thoughts and ideas do you have daily which represent useful [...]

Jose Miguel has made several great off-line syntax and code suggestions for MindReader that have led to several changes over the past few weeks. The morning's new version of mindreaderNLP.mmbas has several new features:
You can now specify any @context, ^area, resource@, or ~category using the syntax in this sentence. MindReader [...]

Although the site's first post was back in August 2006 (Chapter 1), the first visitors started trickling this a year ago this week to read Committed Projects and Next Actions and Top 20 uses of GyroQ". Since then the site has accumulated just under 25,000 visits and 100,000 page views. [...]

Up until now MindReader has processed individual tasks entered at the GyroQ prompt. Mal mentioned on the GTD-mindmanager yahoo group that it would be useful to have a drag and drop capability to pull in tasks he was accumulating in his Palm PDA.
In order to address this need, the MindReader "q" [...]

Throughout the development of MindReader, the key challenge has been to find ways to make it easier for readers to install, configure, and use it. I have been pleasantly surprised by how taking the "configurable" approach has made the program more powerful and easier to use personally, particularly for use on multiple machines in [...]

The ActivityOwner.Com site has accumulated almost 350 comments over the span of 10 months. I enjoy them quite a bit and find it manageable, but tools like MindReader and Mark Task Complete that span several blog posts have their conversations spread across the site, leaving readers stumped as to where to ask [...]

If your ResultsManager activities typically have start date entered (e.g. if you use MindReader), then you might find an added feature of the "next-action-verb-analysis" macro useful.
The new version of the macro calculates the average age of your next actions and enumerates those stragglers that are more than twice the average. This provides [...]

Felix Nyffenegger has created a freemind powered site (wikimindmap.org) that lets you browse wikipedia on a topic like the Tour de France in mindmap format.
Felix was nice enough to set up a wikimindmap that provides a real-time view of the content in wiki.activityowner.com. It is not on the main wikimindmap site menu, [...]

The current MindReader "o", and "q" tags make use of a temporary MindManager map to transfer the text entered at the GyroQ prompt into the underlying SAX basic macros. This adds a second of processing time and a distracting flash of the temporary map.
While waiting for the GyroQ version 7 upgrade, [...]

This is almost too embarrassing to post. Working with MindReader this afternoon while doing my GTD weekly review, I noticed the script was running a bit sluggishly while processing items. I decided to go into the SAX basic code and see if I could speed it up a bit. I made [...]

While reviewing my ResultsManager Daily Actions Plus Dashboard in MindManager this evening, I noticed I had accumulated quite a few "next actions" in the "no context" branch. This branch has usually be relatively lean since I began using MindReader heavily. Putting things in context is a key aspect of GTD.
I [...]

The recent ActivityOwner.Com review of MindManager 7 mentioned that a big downside of the new release was a bug that prevented the file operations in MindReader macros from working correctly when called by GyroQ. After some experimenting we've found that if file closure commands are moved to the end of the macros, then [...]

The recording of Gyronix CEO Nik Tipler's webinar on using GyroQ is now available. The audio isn't all that hot, but the content is good, particularly around 32:45 if you are a MindReader fan :-).
On a related note, David Allen's long-time tech guru Eric Mack has a MindJet Webinar on Wednesday March 28th [...]

Hans poured over the MindReader code and made several great suggestions, additions, and bug-fixes. For example, MindReader now adds a gray "blob" icon if it does not a responsible resource or an action verb to use in assigning a context. The big addition though is of a new GyroQ MindReader "s" tag. [...]

The QuickTime video loop below shows the GyroQ MindReader "process current topics" ("c") tag acting on selected MindManager topics. Based on the keyword matches the macro sees in the user's MindReader configuration map, it performs a GTD "process" step by setting the activity context, due dates, icons, priorities, category, area, resources, etc. [...]

Last week's post on "GyroParser-let GyroQ read your mind" demonstrated an initial proof of concept of a GyroQ tag for parsing the text of an action item to try to infer the destination map for it, its due date, its context, and the relationships (e.g. waiting for, owed to, contact about) associated with it. [...]

In my quest to create a generic "GyroParse" (now called "MindReader"), the first order of business was to create a generic and configurable way to open the destination MindManager map using GyroQ based on keywords in the queued item. After a few iterations, I converged on the following approach, which can be implemented [...]

"Buy eggs tomorrow!"
"Call Bob next week",
"Read Getting Things Done someday"
Longtime ActivityOwner.com readers may remember an early post that speculated about the possibility of having GyroQ parse the text of an action item to automatically infer things like context. due date, priority, etc. This could act as a time saver, allow one tag to [...]

In its default mode, GyroQ lets you quickly unload plain vanilla action items "out of your head" and into a main "My In-Tray" map for later processing. While this is a great utility, it can lead you to accumulate a long list of generic and unrelated action items. With each addition to [...]
